REPERTORY
There is no minimum repertory requirement.
15-minute limit - anything goes: Students may play as few or as many selections as desired (in any style[s]), providing the repertory does not exceed 15 minutes. We would advise against cuts in music (except in the "orchestra" 2nd piano reduction of concerto movements). If concerto movement(s) are played, contestants are responsible for securing their own accompanist(s) to play the 2nd piano orchestral reduction part(s). The accompanist(s) can be any person or persons of the contestant's choice.

At least one copy of all the music to be played must be provided for the judge(s). Please, no photocopies unless music is original, unpublished and/or uncopyrighted. Measures should be numbered in all copies of the music. Contestants may perform with or without music (judges are instructed that memory is not by itself a factor in evaluations). - Movements of piano solo sonatas or suites are permitted (for applicable prizes). - If one or more transcriptions or arrangements are listed, please indicate what the pieces were in their original form, along with names of the original composers and arrangers/transcribers (e.g., "Symphony No. X, Hobgoblin No. 32 in Q-Flat; 1st movement, Allegro crisco corn bread-o, by Elrod Schmutz, transcribed for piano solo by Fiduciary Blimp"). - If concerto movements are listed, please indicate (if applicable) who has written (or will improvise) any lead-in(s) and/or cadenza(s) -- the contestant? contestant's teacher? both? the composer? an editor? - Students who have played in previous creative piano festivals (1996-2004) cannot perform the same repertory that they played in any of those festivals. Exception: If the work is in a significantly different form (a different version, different arrangement, student is now adding embellishments/improvisations/variants, etc.), then it may be allowed. If there are questions, please contact Dr. Houle. - IMPORTANT: Please indicate playing time of each selection in minutes, along with the TOTAL playing time where indicated (at bottom).
